ABOUT US

SFPA was formed in 1927 by Sir Francis (L'Estrange) Joseph; Major C Mander; Captain T Priestley and JT Homer.

On October 19, 1927, a countywide appeal was made for funds for the association which raised £3,249 and ran in conjunction with a nationwide appeal for the setting up of a National Playing Fields Association whose patron was the Duke of Edinburgh.

The first AGM was held in 1928 and it was noted that Staffordshire was badly in need of playing fields.
